What drives us forward.

Our Purpose

“Follow Jesus. Grow in Jesus. Lead like Jesus.”

Why are we here, as individuals and collectively as the church? Ultimately, we are here to be disciples of Jesus. Jesus tells us in Matthew 4:19: “Follow me. I will make you fishers of men.” Being a disciple means more than just proclaiming that you believe. There is action involved. We are called to follow. We must be open to allow Jesus to work in and change our lives. And we must go out into the world and be committed to Jesus’ mission.

Our Mission

“Making disciples who live and love like Jesus.”

What actually is the mission Jesus left behind for us? Furthermore, what are we going to do to work to fulfill that mission? Matthew 28:18-20 says: “Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." There are four action items that Jesus gave us in this scripture: Go, Make Disciples, Baptize and Teach. This is the mission He left us.

Our Vision

“To be a unified church that shines the light of Jesus into a dark and hurting world.”

Where is the Holy Spirit leading us? What is our direction? Our common goal? The Church was never meant to be an institution. No. The Church is a movement. It’s a group of people actively working together to help fulfill Jesus’ mission. Our hope is to be a church that collectively loves and reaches people. This is our desired destination.

Our VALUES

Truth.

The Bible is God’s Word. It is without error and is absolute truth. We must be planted and deeply rooted in what scripture tells us. It is our guide for how to be the people and church God has called us to be.

Psalm 119:160; 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Trust.

We recognize that this church does not belong to us. Lightpoint is God’s church. It doesn’t belong to anyone else. Therefore, we trust that the Holy Spirit is present and active in our church and in our lives. We recognize the Holy Spirit as our leader, and rely on Him above our own human credentials or strategies.

Proverbs 3:5; John 14:15-18; Acts 15:28; Revelation 3:6

Character.

Our character is found in Jesus. By looking at His character and allowing Him to work within us, we know who we need to be, both as the church and as individuals. We need to be a reflection of Jesus himself. Humble. Authentic. Honest. Courageous. Joyful. When the world looks at us, they should see the Light of the World shining through.

Philippians 2:5-11

Love.

Jesus commanded us to love God and love others. Jesus tells us that the world will know who we belong to by the way we love one another. We choose to value people where they are in life and to help them follow and grow in their relationship with Jesus. We show grace to each other and forgive each other simply because Jesus tells us to. When we are obedient to what Jesus commands we choose to be generous with our time, talents and treasures, putting forth our very best effort in all we do because we love God.

Matthew 22:37-39; John 13:34-35; John 15:12; Romans 12:10; 1 John 4:7-19; Mark 11:25; Colossians 3:23; 1 Corinthians 10:31

Unity.

When we are rooted in the truth of the Bible, trust the Spirit’s leading, take on the character of Jesus and are full of love for God and one another, the result is a healthy, unified church. We become an environment where everyone has value. We can recognize and appreciate the unique spiritual gifts we have individually been given. Relationships can flourish. We can have respect for and show grace to one another, even when we may disagree. And ultimately we, together as the church, are able to walk in the light, and can go out and shine the Light of Life into a dark world.

Ephesians 2:14-22 and 4:1-6; Hebrews 12:1-2

At Lightpoint we desire to be a church that strives toward healthy relationships and unity within the church body.  We utilize a "Social Covenant" to help guide us in maintaining and striving for healthy relationships.  We ask those who want to be an active part of our Body to read, agree to and commit to a biblical way of honoring and loving each other. Click the link below to view the “Social Coventant”. If you have any questions please contact one of our Elders and they would be happy to answer any questions or concerns.
