Our Belief Statement

About God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The three are coequal and are one God.

Genesis 1:1,26, 27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

About Jesus

Jesus is the Son of God, coequal with the Father and Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He was God, who became human to communicate salvation to mankind, not sent to condemn, but to bring salvation through Him. Jesus performed signs and miracles, fulfilling hundreds of prophecies written about Him. Jesus was the true shepherd who lived a sinless, human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for sin. Jesus rose from the dead three days after His crucifixion and burial, and now sits forever at the right hand of God the Father in Heaven. Jesus offers forgiveness and eternal life for those that believe in Him, turn from their sins and accept the salvation that God is offering through His son, Jesus Christ. We anxiously await when He will return to Earth again one day.

John 3:16-17, John 20:30-31, John 10:11-15, Isaiah 53:5, Ephesians 2:13, Acts 1:11

About the Holy Spirit

The presence of the Holy Spirit is a gift given to Christians at the moment of salvation. The work of the Holy Spirit is to soften men’s hearts and convict the heart of the Christian. Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit as the counselor, one called alongside, and one who seals our hearts and confirms us. Throughout the journey of a Christ follower, the Holy Spirit will reveal God’s truth and produce spiritual fruit within him. Man alone cannot accomplish any of this; it requires the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12; John 16:7-11; John 14:16; John 16:13; Galatians 5:22-23

About the Bible

The Bible is God's Word to us. The Bible was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs about living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without error.

2 Timothy 3:16, 1:13; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5

About Humanity

People are the supreme object of God's creation. People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called "sin." Sin separates us from God and causes many problems in our life.

Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2

About Salvation

Salvation is God's free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin's penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6, 1:2; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1, 10:9-10

About Eternity

People will exist eternally with or without God. People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life in heaven. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.

John 3:16, 14:17; Romans 6:23, 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15; 1 Corinthians 2:7-9

About Eternal Security

Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.

John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25; Hebrews 10:10,14; 1 Peter 1:3-5

About Baptism

Baptism is symbolic of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Once we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, baptism is a way for us to publicly declare our new life in Christ. It is also a step of obedience based on God’s commands and allows us to follow the example of Jesus, who submitted himself to baptism to "fulfill all righteousness."

Matthew 3:16-17, 28:18-20; Acts 2:41, 8:12

About the Church

The church is the Body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit to continue the task of leading others to faith in Christ and teaching followers of Christ to obey and serve Him. Involvement in a local church is critical to individual growth, fellowship, and support for life’s day-to-day challenges.

Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 4:1-16; Ephesians 2:19
